Declarations of Allyship

When Bursting Through is LIVE at events, it creates a safe space for LGBTQ+ Allies and those they love to connect. While there, people reflect on lived experiences and become Bursting Through Messengers by making Declarations of Allyship.
What are Bursting Through Declarations of Allyship?
They are personal truths of love, compassion, and empathy expressed by LGBTQ+ Allies like you. Each person proclaims their Allyship beliefs and/or values after they learn that 55% of the adult U.S. population self-identify as Allies of the LGBTQ+ Community and 9.3% self-identify as LGBTQ+, and then asked what Allyship means to them.
Who are Bursting Through Messengers?
They are open-hearted, articulate, and fierce LGBTQ+ Allies who make Declarations of Allyship at Bursting Through Live events. They either love someone who is LGBTQ+, are part of the Queer Community, or both. The only requirement to becoming a Bursting Through Messenger is love in your heart and the desire to share that love broadly.
Why do people become Bursting Through Messengers?
People show up and become Bursting Through Messengers because they need to be heard, witnessed, and connected through love and shared humanity. They have something powerful in their heads and hearts that needs to be captured and put into words and the world.
What do Allyship Declarations do?
Each Declaration helps create the caring and connected society we all deserve and says, “I am a safe person and create a safe space for anyone LGBTQ+ and those who love them.” They are also physical representations that we share many values.
Each event, message content transcends the basic commonality of Allyship to reveal something bigger in people’s hearts and minds. Unrelated people at different times throughout the events leave similar messages showing common threads.
This month's messages reveal shared values of love and respect.
What happens to the Declarations of Allyship?
Every message is added to the Bursting Through Declaration of Allyship library. To date, we have over 700 messages. The big vision is to transform them into a powerful art installation. The installation that will travel the world reaffirming that our collective love, values, and desire to live in a connected society are stronger than the hate we now face.
